# Get started with RentFAX

> Sign up for RentFAX, complete your company workspace setup, invite your team, and run your first renter risk screening — all in under ten minutes.

This guide walks you through everything you need to go from a new account to a completed renter risk report. By the end, you'll have a workspace set up, your team invited, and a real understanding of what a RentFAX risk score means.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create your account">
    Go to [https://app.rentfax.io/signup](https://app.rentfax.io/signup) and sign up with your email and a password. You can also sign in with Google.

    Once you've confirmed your email, you'll be taken directly to the company setup wizard.

    <Tip>
      If you already have an account, sign in at [https://app.rentfax.io](https://app.rentfax.io).
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete the company setup wizard">
    The setup wizard runs once, immediately after your first login. It takes about two minutes to complete.

    **Step 1 — Company info**

    Enter your company name, business type (sole proprietorship, LLC, corporation, or partnership), business phone, and address. Your company name is how your business appears on reports you file across the RentFAX network, so use your official operating name.

    **Step 2 — What you rent out**

    Select the type of assets you rent: vehicles, equipment, residential property, commercial property, or other. You'll also pick your fleet or portfolio size. RentFAX uses this to tailor your dashboard layout and report templates to your industry.

    **Step 3 — Try your first search**

    The wizard lets you run a live renter search before your account is fully configured. Enter any renter's name, email, or phone number to see a sample result from the network. You can skip this step and come back later if you prefer.

    Once you complete the wizard, you're taken to your main dashboard.

    <Note>
      You can update your company information later in **Settings**.
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite your team">
    If other people at your company will use RentFAX — leasing agents, fleet coordinators, compliance staff — add them before you start screening.

    1. Go to **Settings → Team**
    2. Click **Invite member**
    3. Enter their email address and assign a role: **Admin** or **Member**
    4. Click **Send invite**

    They'll receive an email with a link to create their own login and join your workspace. See [Account setup](/account-setup) for a full description of what each role can do.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Run your first renter search">
    From your dashboard, click **Renters** in the sidebar, then click **Search renter**.

    Enter any combination of:

    * Full name
    * Email address
    * Phone number
    * Driver's license or ID document number

    RentFAX searches the network and returns results in under a second. If the renter has a record — whether from your company or any other operator in the network — it appears here.

    <Info>
      You can also add renters manually or import them in bulk via CSV from the Renters dashboard.
    </Info>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the risk score">
    Every renter search returns a **RentFAX Score** between 100 and 1000. Higher is better — a score of 800 or above indicates a low-risk renter, while a score below 400 warrants careful review.

    Below the score, you'll see:

    * **Identity status** — whether the renter's identity was verified or flagged
    * **Fraud signals** — any duplicate IDs, address anomalies, or pattern matches
    * **Incident history** — a timeline of incidents reported by any operator in the network
    * **AI risk explanation** — a plain-language summary of the key signals driving the score

    The score and its components are fully transparent to you. Renters can also view their own profile and dispute any entry through the [renter portal](/renter-portal/overview).

    <Warning>
      RentFAX provides risk intelligence to support your decisions — it does not make approval or denial decisions for you. You remain responsible for applying your own screening criteria consistently and in compliance with applicable law.
    </Warning>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Export a report">
    Once you've reviewed a renter's profile, you can export it for your records.

    1. Open the renter's profile
    2. Click **Export**
    3. Choose **CSV** or **PDF**

    The export includes the risk score, fraud signals, and incident history at the time of the export. PDF exports are formatted for use in your internal files or as documentation in a dispute.

    <Tip>
      Admins can also view portfolio-wide risk analytics and export aggregated renter data from the **Reports** tab.
    </Tip>
